The federal budget for 2020-21 is backing up the Australian manufacturing industry by investing $1.5B in the Modern Manufacturing Strategy over the next four years. This initiative will create jobs to lead the nation out of COVID-19 crisis. It will allow Australian manufacturers to scale up and compete internationally.

The Modern Manufacturing Initiative will support projects within six National Manufacturing Priorities:

  • resources technology and critical minerals processing
  • food and beverage
  • medical products
  • recycling and clean energy
  • defence
  • and space.

Industry Capability Network (ICN) has been integral in the delivery of many Federal Government programs. We supported manufacturing policies such as the Supplier Access to Major Projects (SAMP) program and the supplier advocate and national sector manager initiatives.

ICN has a long and successful association with governments in supporting SME’s win contracts in major public and private projects both locally and globally. Since we began in 1984, we have helped SMEs win over $30 billion of work.

ICNL Chairman, Mr David McLachlan AO AO (Mil) congratulates the Morrison Government and Hon Karen Andrews on the announcement of the 1.5b Modern Manufacturing Initiative.

“We’re excited by the new opportunities this initiative will provide to manufacturing industry,” he said.

“We’re standing ready to be a part of the delivery of the associated programs and the delivery of benefits to the whole Australian economy.” David added.

ICN is working relentlessly to support local SMEs and maxmise opportunities for them. We encourage businesses to join ICN Gateway to receive alerts of newly listed projects and work packages.
