ICN to help NBN deliver 400 new manufacturing jobs

Industry Capability Network (ICN) welcomed the announcement by Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr that 400 new manufacturing jobs would be created in Australia as part of the National Broadband Network (NBN). Senator Carr made the announcement today following the signing of three NBN equipment contracts worth $1.6 billion.

ICN’s executive director, Derek Lark, said ICN looked forward to working with NBN Co to help with the procurement process for these contracts.

“ICN has a national manager dedicated to the NBN project and we have been working with NBN Co for some time to make sure Australian suppliers are part of this exciting new initiative,” Derek said.

“The NBN contractors will be looking for a range of different suppliers; big and small and we’re working with them to help find suppliers that suit their needs exactly in each location.”

“I urge all suppliers interested in the project to register with ICN so that we know about their business, products and services at www.icngateway.com.au.”

Derek was also quick to highlight the success of the ICN model so far.“ICN has already helped local companies secure more than $15 billion worth of contracts across a range of industries that could have otherwise gone overseas.

“So, if you’re looking for new business and a foot in the door with the NBN project, ICN is a great place to start.

“You can register your interest in NBN in just a few quick steps at www.icngateway.com.au and registration is free of charge to all local suppliers,” he said.

“This is a significant step forward for the NBN project and we look forward to working with NBN Co, the government and local suppliers to help make the initiative a great success.”

ICN is a not-for-profit organisation funded by Australian, state and territory governments. It has 27 offices around Australia and New Zealand.
