Yingwati Pty Ltd is an Aboriginal owned and operated family company which was founded by shareholders DenJayRay Holdings Pty Ltd and HB Constructions Pty Ltd. The company delivers a full range of civil and construction services throughout the Northern Territory and has the social capability to work in regional areas and remote communities.

The company’s mission is simple yet powerful, “To break poverty and the dependency cycle by delivering and diverting our services to create long term inter-generational opportunities for Aboriginal and the wider community we operate in.”

Founder and Managing Director, Kim Hill has strong local networks, many years of senior management experience and a passion for improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aboriginal people. A key to the company’s success is the Yingwati Job Fit – Job Ready Program. This program has enabled Yingwati to achieve above 40% Aboriginal engagement on each project consistently.

The five key objectives of the Job Fit and Job Ready program:

  1. Recruitment of Aboriginal workforce based on cultural strengths
  2. Respect of Moiety, i.e. Mingairringi, Junggayi, Darinyin and Kinship System
  3. Consulting with families
  4. Mentoring of Aboriginal workers and their families
  5. Creating a pathway for opportunities

On projects, Yingwati works to partner with local service providers to assist them in upskilling commercial competencies and raising the capability of the community or region where the project is. Yingwati’s goal is to secure long term, substantial contracts and joint ventures with remote and regional organisations, leading to employment to train local Aboriginal residents.

Currently, YIngwati is the head contractor for the construction and installation of new ground water tanks in Ngukurr, Katherine Region and Galiwinku, Croker Island for Power and Water Corporation.

The Yingwati business model is centred on an intergenerational change to empower Aboriginal communities in regional and remote areas. Under the business model; Aboriginal employees receive awards wages based on their competencies, all employees must send their children to school and must have regular health checks.
