Covalent Lithium Project

Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd (Covalent Lithium) (previously Western Australia Lithium Pty Ltd) is the managing entity for the purpose of the 50/50 joint venture between Kidman Resources Limited and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM: NYSE).

Covalent Lithium is developing, and will operate, the Covalent Lithium Project which will include the construction and operation of a fully integrated mine, concentrator and refinery in Western Australia.

The mine and concentrator will be located 120 km south of Southern Cross in the state’s Goldfields region, on the Earl Grey hard-rock lithium deposit. The refinery for processing the lithium concentrate is currently proposed to be located in the Kwinana Industrial Area with an anticipated annual output of 45.4 ktonne of battery quality lithium hydroxide.

Update 25th February 2020

Covalent Lithium’s shareholders have recently decided to delay the final investment decision in relation to the development of its Mount Holland Lithium Project (Project) for a period of 12 months – until the first quarter of 2021.

As a result, major contracts for development of the Project’s mine, concentrator and refinery are now likely to be awarded in quarter 1, 2021.

Covalent Lithium will ensure that all major tenders are published to its ICN WA Gateway page in accordance with the revised Project schedule.

Covalent Lithium remains committed to working with, and ensuring that, Australian industry is afforded full, fair and reasonable opportunity to participate in the Project.
